What Is A Ceiling Fan Switch?
If you have a ceiling fan and want to make it more effective, it is best to install a ceiling fan switch. A ceiling fan switch allows you to choose which one of the two wires is used to power your ceiling fan. This will allow you to have a completely different look for your fan than you may currently have. You can also use the ceiling fan switch to easily flip the switch on or off, which will provide convenience if you’re entertaining a lot.
A ceiling fan switch works on the same basic principle as the electrical box. The fan uses a switch to turn on the light and to turn off the light. The wires inside the box are placed in an exposed location so that all wires can be seen. The wires inside the ceiling fan switch are placed in an insulating sleeve that shields the wires from the elements. The insulating sleeve also helps prevent shorting when the wires inside the box are in use.
There are three wires inside the ceiling fan switch – the neutral wire, the bias wire, and the mounting wire. The neutral wire carries the electricity that powers the fan, while the bias and mounting wires carry the wiring needed to mount the light fixture on the ceiling. Some ceiling fans have a hole on the bottom of the switch so that you can easily hang them without having to worry about the wiring box. All of the mounting wires are usually soldered to the box so they won’t move, which is another advantage of the switch – it keeps all of the wiring inside the box where it’s safe and out of the way.
