A video of a ceiling fan iced over in Texas has captured the attention of social media users. The video, shared by a resident of Austin, Texas, shows icicles growing on the blades as the fan spins. The icicles grow outward as a result of the centrifugal force acting on the water droplets. But you shouldn’t spin your ceiling fan while water and ice are collecting. Especially not in mid-August.
The Texas ceiling fan ice photo was taken by Twitter user Thomas Black, who has been updating the public on the freezing weather conditions. In the picture, an icy ceiling fan hangs from a hallway. Ice lining the walls of the hallway is also visible. During the ice storm, the ceiling fan has become frozen.
